China approved five new trademarks for First Daughter Ivanka Trump's business earlier this month — around the same time that President Trump said he would try to provide a job boost to the Chinese telecommunications company ZTE.
The trademarks were applied for in March of 2017, according to the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. The trademarks give the White House adviser's company rights for bath mats, textiles and baby blankets, according to CREW.
An additional trademark for Ivanka Trump Marks LLC was given trial approval.
Ivanka Trump received the registration approval on May 7. Her father tweeted on May 13 that "President Xi of China, and I, are working together to give massive Chinese phone company, ZTE, a way to get back into business, fast. Too many jobs in China lost. Commerce Department has been instructed to get it done!"
It was announced Friday that the Trump administration reached a deal with ZTE to keep the telecommunications giant in business.
The Chinese government also agreed earlier this month to loan $500 million to an Indonesia project that features the Trump Organization as a partner, according to CREW.
"As a White House adviser, Ivanka has represented the United States at multiple diplomatic events despite the potential conflicts her business interests present," CREW wrote on its website on Friday. "Although Ivanka has stepped down from her role at her business and has placed it in a trust, she continues to receive profits from the business."
