LVMH's Moet Hennessy unit is the first drinks company to announce its sales results for the first quarter of 2018
LVMH has reported another healthy lift in sales from its Moet Hennessy unit from the first three months of 2018.
The group announced earlier today that sales from its wine and spirits division were up in the first quarter by 10% on the corresponding period a year ago, in organic terms. Coming in at EUR1.2bn (US$1.47bn), the unit's sales were flat in reported terms.
The quarterly performance comes a year after Moet Hennessy reported a 13% jump in sales for the first three months of last year.
In a short trading update, LVMH highlighted a 1% lift in volume sales from its Champagne portfolio, which includes the likes of Moƫt & Chandon, Dom PƩrignon, Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin and Krug. Hennessy Cognac, meanwhile, delivered a 5% volumes lift with China and the US posting "growth in-line with the trends seen in the second half of 2017".
