The always-heated telecom market in India has been fuelled by a new pre-paid plan. This time it comes from telecom major Airtel’s stable. The telco has announced a new plan for the prepaid users in India for Rs 249.
The plan is already listed on Airtel website and comes with benefits such as unlimited local and STD calls -- including outgoing as well as incoming roaming calls, 100 SMS both local and national. As for data, this plan includes 56GB of total data with a FUP limit of 2GB per day.
This newly announced plan directly locks horns with Reliance Jio's offer with same data -- 56GB total -- and validity -- 28 days. However, Jio's plan is cheaper by Rs 51. There is also a counter plan from Vodafone that costs Rs 199 and offers unlimited calling and 1GB daily data for 28 days.
Besides announcing a new plan, Airtel has also revised the data limit of its existing Rs 349 plan. Earlier offering 2.5GB daily data, the offer now includes 3GB daily data for a period of 28 days, making it 84GB of total data. Other offers from this plan include 100 daily SMSxa per day and unlimited calling on both local and national numbers. The competition plan for this plan from Reliance Jio, which offers the same 3GB per day data and unlimited calling feature, costs Rs 299.
Earlier this week, Airtel announced a home broadband plan with speeds of up to 300 Mbps over Wi-Fi. The FTTH (Fiber-To-the-Home) based plan comes at a monthly rental of Rs 2,199 and offers 1,200GB of ultra-high speed data along with unlimited STD and local calling benefits.
